Fountainbridge Student Accommodation

Cityheart were appointed by Edinburgh Napier University as their Development Partner to deliver a student accommodation-led masterplan at the Fountainbridge campus as part of a 10-year strategy.

Cityheart’s role involved site assembly, design, build and financing to deliver 778 student beds across seven buildings, in addition to an 800m² student union, Sainsbury’s Local convenience store, offices, a new school, a 1.5acre public park and private sale residential apartments, all surrounded by attractive public realm interlinked into the surrounding area.

Cityheart identified the 22-acre parcel of land formerly occupied by a brewery located equidistance between the City Centre the main University campus, and subsequently secured an option on the site. We prepared a masterplan for the scheme and submitted a hybrid planning application, ultimately completing the scheme in September 2013.
